The Poker Dealer's Practice Companion

EXERCISE: RANK

The Rank exercise allows you to practice calling the value of each hand and mucking all loosing hands, leaving only the winning hand (or hands in a split pot).

The options for the Rank exercise are:

Show Players Cards Immediately - If this option is checked, all player’s cards will be turned face up after the last card is dealt. If this option is off, you can evaluate each hand without seeing the other hands first.

Show Errors Immediately - If this option is on, DealMaster will tell you whenever you make a mistake. You will not be able to continue until you provide the correct action. If this option is off, you will not be informed of any errors until the session is over.

Call Hand Before Mucking - If this option is on, you must call a hands value before it can be mucked. If this option if off, you can muck the hand without calling its value

Must Muck All Losing Hands - If this option is on, you must muck all losing hands before dealing the next hand. Dealing the next hand, without mucking all but the winning hands will constitute an error

Always Force a “lo” (Omaha Hi-Low Only) - If this option is on, DealMaster will generate a board that contains at least three cards that are 8 or lower. This option has no effect on games other than Omaha Hi-Low.

Hide Desktop - If this option is on, the desktop of your computer will be covered during game play. This may be helpful if you have a busy desktop.

Background Color - This option determines the color used to cover the desktop if the Hide Desktop option is on. It is also used to determine the background color of the Game Window. To set the color, click the color swatch and select the desired color.

Number of Players - This option determines how many players will be at the table during play. Choosing “Random” will cause DealMaster to select a random number of players for each hand. The maximum number of players in 7 Card Stud is 7.

Deal Turn after [X] seconds - This option determines how long the computer will wait to deal the turn (4th street) after dealing the flop. This option has no effect when playing 7 Card Stud.

Deal River after [X] seconds - This option determines how long the computer will wait to deal the river (5th street) after dealing the turn. This option has no effect when playing 7 Card Stud.

Hide the Board After [X] seconds - If this option is checked, then DealMaster will, after dealing the river, remove the board from sight after the selected number of seconds. This can be useful when learning to temporally memorize the board.
