You can create a CD-ROM that your teachers can use to install RCM on to their computer(s). Below are the instructions for creating full RCM Installer CD-ROMs.

Please note that ClearVision Technologies, Inc. will not guarantee or support any CD-ROM that was not created by ClearVision. If you need assistance creating your CD-ROM, please contact us. We'll be happy to help.

Before starting the creation of your CD-ROM, be sure to install the latest version of Report Card Maker onto your computer. You will need several files from the RCM folder. If there are any plug-ins you want included with your CD-ROM installer, download and copy them into RCM's "plug-ins" folder BEFORE starting to make your CD-ROMs.

VERY IMPORTANT
BE SURE TO COMPLETELY TEST ANY AND ALL CD-ROMS YOU PRODUCE, ON ALL TARGET PLATFORMS, BEFORE GIVING THEM TO TEACHERS TO USE.

Creating a Windows Only Installer CD-ROM

Create a new folder on your computer. This will be the "root" level of your CD. Download these files four files and place them into your "root" folder:

Autorun.inf
InstallRCM4.exe
RCMCDIcon.bmp
setup2.rcm

Next, create a new folder in the "root" named "data". From your RCM folder (C:/Program Files/RCM) copy the entire "plug-ins" folder, the entire "help" folder and the "RCMData.rcx" file into the "data" folder in "root". If you have a "ddocs" folder in your RCM folder, copy it into the "data" folder. Next copy your customized RCM District File into the "data" folder. Your District File has a school bus icon and is named "xxxx.rcd".

The contents of your "root" folder should look like this:

Autorun.inf
InstallRCM4.exe
RCMCDIcon.bmp
setup2.rcm
data
****.rcd
RCMData.rcx
plug-ins
AmericanDict.rcs
SpanishDict.rcs

Open your CD burning software and burn the contents of the "root" folder to the CD-ROM.

Creating a Mac OSX Only Installer CD-ROM

Use "Disk Utility" to create a disk image. Name the image "RCM". The installer will not function properly on a Macintosh if the CD-ROM is not named "RCM".

Copy your entire RCM folder from your Macintosh to the disk image. The user will install RCM by dragging the "RCM" folder from the CD to thier "Applications" folder. Create a text file named "Read Me First" that explains how and where to drag the "RCM" folder.

Open your CD burning software and burn the RCM disk image to a CD-ROM.

Creating a Mac/Windows Hybrid Installer CD-ROM

To create a RCM hybrid CD-ROM (that is, one that can install onto Windows and Macintosh computer, you will HAVE to create the CD on a Mac.

Without actually burning the CD, follow the steps for creating a Windows CD (do this on your Mac, using the files on your Mac). Then, follow the steps for creating a Mac CD.

Using CD burning software that is capable of making a custom hybrid CD-ROM (such as Toast by Roxio), set the Mac portion to the "RCM" disk image. Then, set the ISO portion to the files in the "root" folder. Click "Burn".
