Managing Topics

Topics are the types of entries in your Gradebook. For example, a Test, Quiz, Homework assignment, Project are all Topics. Topics are also used in the Weights. For example, if you want Tests and Quizzes to account for 60% of the final grade, and homework to account for 40% of the grade, you'll need a Test and Quizzes Topic and a Homework Topic.

To access the Topics, choose Topics & Weights from the Gradebook menu.

Mark - Use this field to type your mark (or grade). For example: "A+" or "O-". Marks are limited to three (3) characters.

Score (%) - This field is used to define a mark’s Top Score. The Top Score is the number used by the Gradebook when grades are averaged or calculated. If, for example, you have set the top score of "B+" to 87, the Gradebook will convert a B+ to 87 when generating a student’s average. This number is also used when the Gradebook applies averaged grades to the Report Card, and when grades are converted from one Mark List to another.

Delete Mark - Click this button to delete a Mark.

Move Mark Up - Click this button to move the selected Mark up in your Mark List.

Move Mark Down - Click this button to move the selected Mark down in your Mark List.

When you have finished creating and/or editing your Mark Lists, close the New Mark List window.
