School Year

Set School Year

This option let's you set the active school year for all RCM users within your district/school. When you choose this option, it will first show you the current school year before you continue.

SETTING THE SCHOOL YEAR

To set the school year in RCM (and SIMON), choose the Set School Year option in the Utilities menu. Then enter the desired year. The format you enter must be ####-####. For example, 2019-2020 or 2020-2021.

IMPORTANT: All data in RCM (teachers, students, grades, comments, etc.) are connected with the school year when the data was entered. If data was entered for 2015-2016, and you change the school year to 2016-2017, the 2015-2016 data will not appear.
Each year around the middle of July, ClearVision Technologies, will advance the school year to the upcoming school year. If you are not ready for this change, simply set the school year as desired.

View School Year

SIMON will keep a record of all schools, teachers, students, and all the grades from year to year. It will also keep track of the report card templates from year to year. So, if you need to pull up a student's report card from a prior year, even if the report card format has changed since then, you can do that right in SIMON.

VIEWING PREVIOUS YEAR'S DATA

To temporarly change years in SIMON (not RCM), simply choose the desired year from the View School Year option in the Utilities menu.

You will only see the school years listed that have data. If you want to import data from a previous year from SIMON 5, see Importing A SIMON 5 Archive in the Importing Data chapter of this User Guide.

Once you have set the View School Year, you can view and print the report cards as desired.

When you are done, you can change the View School Year back to the defaut, or simple exit SIMON. SIMON will always start with the active school year.

When you set the View Year in SIMON, this does not effect what the teachers see. RCM will always function on the current school year as set by ClearVision Technologies, or by you using the Set School Year function.
